Calvin Johnson FFCounselorCalvin Johnson is an all-world football player.

The best receiver in football and the clear cut number one fantasy wide receiver. But I really hope he does not end up on any of my fantasy teams this summer.

MockDraftCentral.com currently ranks Calvin as the fifth player going in drafts, this means you’d be passing up on running backs such as CJ Spiller, Jamaal Charles, Trent Richardson, Ray Rice and Alfred Morris to take Johnson. With the lack of top heavy depth at the running back position, I don’t see many ways of sustaining a deep, successful team by passing on these options in round one.

Let’s say you are in a twelve team league, picking at number six. You take Calvin Johnson, you are not picking again now until selection number nineteen. This

Fantasy Football Counselor Cheet SheetThe great writers just keep coming.  This post features a Mike Valverde breaking down some of the most basic principles in Fantasy Football.  While they seem obvious, they are the pillars that cannot be forgotten and are the foundation that fantasy championships are built on.  Mike has been playing fantasy football for over 20 years and is a practicing Buddhist, yeah, they watch football too.

Whether you’re a first time fantasy football draftee or have spent the last 40 years participating in leagues, there is always a strategy needed. This is not going to be one of those articles that tells you what should be done, but explore how it can be done.  For Instance, one of my favorite quotes is by Harvard Professor and a leading authority on company strategy Michael Porter.  Mr.

Fantasy Football Summit Day 3 Recap WR’s

Draft PreperationPlayer Articles  No comments

FFSummit Day 3 WRs FFCounselorIf you didn’t listen last night, you missed one great show.  Day 3 of the fantasy football summit we covered wide receivers and to put it lightly, there was A LOT of debate on where various receivers should be drafted.  Ultimately the panel of 9 experts agreed the position was deep but that might have been all we agreed on, well that and Calvin Johnson at number one.

Brandon Marshall and AJ Green were highly debated as the number two pick in this year’s draft.  Some experts liked Green’s consistency while others preferred the connection Marshall has with Cutler.  The topic of Danny Amendola replacing Wes Welker was discussed heavily.  Can he stay healthy? Will Brady develop the rapport with Amendola quick enough to make him a fantasy star this season?  All those targets and

TRUSTING TRENT RICHARDSON ON DRAFT DAY

Draft PreperationPlayer Articles  No comments

Trent Richardson FFCounselor FeaturedLet me preface this by saying, going into the 2013 season, I am HIGH on Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson. I currently have him at number three in my running back rankings and would have absolutely no qualms about taking him anywhere from third overall. Earlier this week I considered moving Richardson up to number two ahead of Arian Foster and just behind clear number one Adrian Peterson, then news broke that the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft was going to sit out a large chunk of the Browns off season program with a strained muscle in his shin.

The Browns front office are worried that the injury might develop into a stress fracture and are giving "T-Rich" the green light to sit out OTA's and minicamps with a view to being full go when training camp
